I’m Wendy, the founder.

As you may have guessed, we love food. We like to think we're fussy, in a good way. We like natural ingredients and we care where food comes from – we aim to only have products available on our marketplace site that contain no rubbish and are made with high quality ingredients. It’s been that way since our very first day.

I have found wandering through food and farmers’ markets some of the most enriching ways to spend my time. You can find an abundance of gorgeous food, drinks and gifts and meet the most wonderful characters in the traders and producers. Not everyone lives close to these though, or perhaps they can’t always get there when they’d like to so I want to make it easier for customers to discover and buy products from merchants like these from all corners of the country and beyond.

I spent many years working for major online retailers and now want to do more to support smaller businesses who are putting huge amounts of care and attention in to bringing you the most delicious food and drink and exceptional gifts.

Our merchants are all small and medium-sized businesses and sell items you probably wouldn't see in the supermarket. They also have great stories about themselves that you can read on their profile pages! We're adding more merchants and products all the time so come back regularly to see if we can tempt you, and please do tell us if you know of a fantastic food or drink producer or merchant you’d love to see on our site and we'll get in touch with them – just send their details to us at sell@thefoodmarket.com.

Our small and friendly team work hard to make sure they find you the best products and deliver you the best service. We love to recommend products, hear your feedback and generally make you happy.

We work with independent small companies - many of them are family businesses - and they make their products available to you on our site. You can add as many products from as many merchants as you like to your basket and buy in one easy and secure checkout experience. We let the merchants know where to send their products and you receive the order directly from them. Simple!
