That means: sourcing the best possible, whole leaf teas from around the world. Custom brewing each of them to bring out the best possible flavour in every cup. Helping you do the same to ensure every cup of tea tastes just as it should. We call this way of doing things Good & Proper.

Our Story

Having bored her friends for years about wanting to bring better cups of tea to London, our founder Emilie finally decided to do something about it. With plans to convert a 1974 Citroen van into a mobile tea bar, she took the idea to crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, 372 backers made that dream come true.

The first cup of tea was brewed in Shoreditch in 2012. Many years later and thanks to the support of our many wonderful customers, friends, partners and suppliers, Good & Proper Tea has grown to our innovative Tea Bar and of course the van too lives on.

Since 2012 we have led the way for premium tea in the UK with a passion for doing tea properly: sourcing the best possible, single origin, whole leaf teas from around the world, and custom brewing each one to get the best possible flavour in every cup. Since the beginning of our tea journey, serving tea from our converted Citroen-H van, to opening our flagship tea bar and growing our network of hospitality partners, we are on a mission to show how good tea can be, when it's done properly.

We source premium, single-origin, loose leaf teas from around the world. Our care in sourcing and curating the range, as well as the quality of the product itself, has earned us the trust of hundreds. Our tea bags are 100% compostable too. Each of our teas are numbered according to the order in which we found, tasted and fell in love with each one, before including them in our collection. We never stop tasting, so that collection will keep growing - Assam was no.1, and we have just reached no.30.
