    Description

A pyramid shaped goats' cheese from the Loire Valley. It has a smooth, crumbly texture that mixes an initial citrus taste with salty and sweet overtones and a musty fragrance reminiscent of hay. Its pretty wrinkly rind and pleasing pyramid shape make it a must try for goat's cheese lovers.

Pouligny Saint Pierre is an archetypal French goats' milk cheese from the Loire Valley. Nicknamed the Eiffel Tower or Pyramid because of its shape. The natural rind becomes more mottled and delicately wrinkled with age protecting the startling white paste within. A young cheese is matured up to five weeks but can be aged for longer, developing stronger and more complex flavours.

    Producer

    Produced by: Hardy Affineur

Hardy Affineur & Fromagerie were set up after WWII. They are expert in the maturing process (affinage) of artisan goats’ cheeses from the Loire Valley. Hardy collects fresh cheeses from around 30 local cheese makers, they then artfully work on the ageing process (affinage) of those cheeses in order to get the best quality, texture & flavours. They are famous for their expertise with goats’ cheeses such as St Maure, Valençay, Selles sur Cher and Pouligny Saint Pierre.
