Japanese Genmaicha Green Tea: Top grade Japanese green tea with toasted brown rice. This Genmaicha is rather special and unusual, as we use a superior Sencha and combine it with organic Japanese toasted brown rice. Traditionally Genmaicha was made with old, inferior or lower grade sencha and the toasted rice was used as filler to disguise the inferior quality. We don't do that. The sencha is crafted by Moriuchi san - one of the most revered tea-masters in Japan. His 200 year old tea-garden in Shizuoka is still family run, alongside his wife and daughter

Japanese Sencha Green Tea: A remarkably complex and deep Sencha from Shizuoka, Japan. Crafted by Moriuchi-san - one of the most revered tea-masters in Japan on his 200 year old tea garden. The tea is crafted on this tiny estate by Moriuchi-san with his wife and daughter. This tea goes wonderfully with sweet and savoury food. You might try this tea with buttery shortbread or oily fish like salmon.

Japanese Moriuchi Koucha Black Tea: A rare black Japanese tea hand-crafted in Shizuoka by the revered master Moriuchi-san. Black tea was first grown in Japan at the end of the 19th century in response to the growing fashion for darker tea in Europe, particularly the UK. As cheaper black tea and a patriotic preference for "colonial" tea grew to dominate, the market demand dwindled. We have not had access or enjoyed Japanese black teas outside of Japan for many generations - which is a huge shame, as you will discover when you try this exquisite tea. This is a truly rare tea.

Japanese Hojicha Roasted Green Tea: This dark tea (also known as Houjicha) started life as a green tea – but has been skilfully roasted to turn late pick Sencha into something extremely special. Some of the catechins and caffeine are lost in this roasting, softening the tea in every way. The flavour is very soft and smooth, lacking astringency and tannin. It still has caffeine, but it's lower than green tea making it a good tea for the evening, great with and after dinner. It has a soothing yet rather stimulating effect.
