Our 'Garden of England' box contains the freshest, seasonal fruit and vegetables sourced as locally to our South London base as possible. The selection will change frequently to reflect the short growing seasons for many English- fruits and vegetables. We support small and local producers who do not supply large retailers. We are particularly proud of our direct sourcing from growers in Kent, such as asparagus, apples, pears, strawberries, raspberries and cherries according to the seasons.

Subject to the seasons, you can expect the box to contain Beetroot - bunched, Candy or Golden; Cauliflower - Purple, Yellow or Creamy-white; Romanesco; bunched Carrots; seasonal Greens such as Brussel Tops, Curly Kale, Black Cabbage (Cavolo Nero), Savoy or January King cabbage, Rainbow Chard, Sweet Hispi Cabbage, Purple or Yellow Sprouting Broccoli, or Flower Sprouts; Green or Purple Kohlrabi; New season potatoes - Cornish or Jersey Royals.

Fruits will include Apples and Pears, Plums, their varieties changing as the season progresses; and Forced Yorkshire Rhubarb. Then Kentish Cherries and Strawberries. Throughout the year we will update our list according to what fruits are at their best and available.

This box of vegetables will feed 3-5 people for one week.

    Tastes & Textures:

    Golden Beetroot
The dull yellowish skin of this root vegetable belies its bright, warm, golden-fleshed interior, which is particularly cheering in the winter months. So much sweeter than many beets, it's delicious roasted or eaten raw, sliced thinly, in salads.

    Candy Beetroot
Colourful beets are not new but until recently they were mainly appreciated by professional chefs and went straight to restaurant kitchens. These beets have all the qualities of the Golden version but come in a variety of vibrant colours.

    Romanesque Broccoli/Romanesco
Grown in Italy since the 16th century, the vibrant green colour and intricate geometric form of this variety of broccoli is an arresting sight. Best lightly steamed or boiled, the flavour is very delicate and slightly nutty with a consistency between cauliflower and broccoli.

A member of the cabbage family, Kohlrabi can be eaten raw or cooked and works well in salads or stir-fries. It is packed with vitamins and minerals and the taste is somewhere between radish, turnip and the heart of cabbage.
