Recipe: Lizi's Fruity Granola Bars

The beauty of this recipe from Lizi's is its versatility — pretty much anything goes! The list of ingredients below is a guideline — feel free to substitute your favourite dried fruits, nuts and seeds, or simply use up whatever is lying in your cupboard. And don't forget there's a wide range of granolas to choose from as well!


  • 100g unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 200g Lizi's Granola
  • 50g sunflower seeds
  • 50g pecan nuts (chopped)
  • 100g dried fruit (e.g. cranberries/raisins)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 50g chopped chocolate (if you're feeling decadent)

1 Heat the oven to 160C/fan 140C/gas 3.

2 Butter and line a 20cm x 20cm baking dish or tin.

3 Heat the butter, honey and sugar in a large saucepan, stirring until the butter is melted.

4 Add the granola, seeds, nuts, dried fruit and chocolate if using and stir until combined.

5 Tip into the tin and press down lightly until even, then bake for 25 mins or until golden on top.

6 Cool in tin, then cut into 12 squares. If you don’t cool it before cutting, it will be less of a bar and more of a crumble.
