    1) The Healthy Snack: Broccoli Crisps From The Giving Tree

Thanks to the freeze-drying and vacuum-frying process, these delicious little crunchy florets contain all the nutrition of raw broccoli - nothing is lost during cooking and a serving counts as one of your five a day. They're cooked with Rice Bran Oil which is rich in vitamin E, low in saturated fat and high in unsaturated fats - the good fats!

    Perfect for when...
You're craving crisps and crudités just ain't going to cut it.

    2) The Weight-Loss Friendly Snack: Salt & Pepper Popped Lotus Seeds by Nuto

These peppery little popped seeds are only 83 calories per pack and they’re really low in salt, sugar and saturated fat. Lotus seeds are low on the glycemic index, which means they're suitable for people with diabetes and are good at helping your body to metabolise fat. We love the story behind this one - the company Nuto was founded by Babita Singh, a former IT worker who decided to used her mum's recipe to turn her favourite childhood snack into a successful business.

    Perfect for when...
You're determined to stick to the plan but everyone around you is munching on something deep fried.

    3) The Ethical Snack: Crobar from Gathr

Crobars are made from cricket flour (yes, crickets - the jumpy insects), which makes these healthy snack bars delicious, nutritious and good for the environment. As an alternative to meat, insects are a more environmentally-friendly way of getting your daily protein fix. Crickets require significantly less food, land, water and energy than cattle farming and they emit 80 times less CO2, and they're farmed without the use of antibiotics, hormones or pesticides. Gathr was founded by London-based Christine Spliid who was introduced to the widespread practice of entomophagy (eating insects) while travelling in South East Asia. She's convinced we should all be eating more insects and we're inclined to agree!

    Perfect for when...
You're channeling the spirit of Timon and Pumbaa - Hakuna Matata.

  • Gluten-Free Mixed Crobars 2 x 40g

    Sold by Gathr

    4) The Dinner Party Snack: Pitta Chips from Soffle's

The story of Soffle's Pitta Chips all began with a dinner party. Founder Sophie Harvey began making these all-natural crunchy pitta snacks to serve to friends as a pre-dinner party snack, and they were such a hit she decided to start selling them. She started off by cycling samples over to pubs in around Hackney, East London, and the business has been going from strength to strength ever since. Perfect for dipping in hummus, tzatziki or guacamole and a great accompaniment to wine and cheese.

    Perfect for when...
You've got hungry guests to feed but you're operating on a loose schedule in the kitchen. Because wine.

  • Pitta Chip Variety Pack 16 x 60g

    5) The Protein-Rich Snack: Peppered Steak Biltong from the Chichester Biltong Company

Biltong is a dried, cured meat from South Africa which is high in protein and low in sugar, carbohydrates and fat. The company is based in a small farm in Sussex. They owners dried their first batch of biltong in a shoebox using the recipe of a South African family friend. Then they upgraded to a wine case, then to an old army trunk, and now they have most high-tech drying room in the UK. All their Biltong is made from British and Irish grass-fed beef from closed-herd farms.

    Perfect for when...
Your inner carnivore is speaking, and it wants meats. All the delicious meats.

    6) The Free-From Snack: Organic Peppermint Chocolate from iQ Superfood Chocolate

These neat little bars are bursting with flavour but completely free from dairy, gluten, soya, nuts and ten other allergens, and they're are low GI which makes them suitable for people with diabetes. They're sweetened with coconut blossom nectar which is high in potassium, magnesium, zinc, iron and B vitamins. And the verdict on taste? The Great Taste Awards judges gave them two gold stars, and we give them two huge thumbs up (we'll let you be the judge of which is a more prestigious endorsement).

    Perfect for when...
You're craving something sweet but you don't want to load up on sugar.

  • Organic Peppermint Raw Dark Chocolate Bar 35g

    7) The Indulgent Snack - Sicilian Almonds in Almond Gianduja and Caramel Chocolate by Lyra

Another Great Taste Award winner - snacks don't get much more indulgent than this. Freshly roasted Sicilian almonds, coated in dreamy gianduja and covered with caramel and milk chocolate. Drool.
