Our Story

So true; that is why at Lodge Farm we take such great care preparing your meals.

Lodge Farm Kitchen is a family business founded in 2009, which, for the first 5 years, was located on our farm nestled in a valley in rural Herefordshire. On the farm we grow many of our own vegetables and herbs, and we keep a herd of Dexter cattle. All of these were used in our launch range of six main meals.

Having moved the business to a lovely kitchen in the heart of Ross-on-Wye in August 2014 – with mains gas and everything - nothing has changed about the way we source our ingredients or prepare our dishes … we just employ a couple more people and we produce more than Louisa ever dreamt of doing when she set up the business on the farm.

We are committed to continuing to support our neighbouring farmers by using their produce and we will always hand-prepare high quality, traditionally cooked, yet contemporary farmhouse food for your freezer.

Bone broth is as old as the hills. At Osius, The Bone Broth Co., we have just resurrected it. We proudly follow the method used for centuries to bring you these organic, rich, restorative broths

In February 2015, a nutritionist who was treating an eight-year-old boy with severe gut problems approached us with an idea. She was recommending bone broth as part of the child’s daily diet. The boy’s mother was a vegetarian but nevertheless willing to make bone broth for her son, unless there was the perfect one on the market, saving her uncomfortable feelings of nausea and hours of time, let alone difficulty in sourcing good bones.

We were aware of the benefits of bone broth but we didn’t really understand the science behind it.

So we hit the books, Google and talked to nutritionists, dieticians and doctors … in fact anyone who knew more than we did about bone broth.

After months of educating ourselves about the benefits of bone broth, we were convinced that it was an incredible product with an endless stream of health benefits for everyone, not just those in need of healing.

So, the challenge was set. However, there was to be no compromise. The product had to be the best it possibly could be, otherwise it was not worth making.

We believed that the key factors in producing the best broth were that it needed to be:

  • fully organic
  • 100% pasture fed
  • simmered for days
  • free from any additives
  • made with British bones
After many trials and gallons of bone broth down the drain, we now have a product that we are immensely proud of.

Osius Beef Bone Broth is accredited by The Soil Association as a fully organic bone broth and by Pasture for Life as 100% pasture fed. Our Chicken Bone Broth has the Soil Association accreditation. Lodge Farm Kitchen and Osius, The Bone Both Co contribute to the Water Aid charity and are SALSA (Safe & Local Supplier Association) accredited.
